Vice Presidential Candidate Molly Erickson: 

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, my name is Molly Erickson, and I am running for Vice President. The Libertarian party believes that each individual citizen of this country should have their own freedoms, without too much government involvement. I guarantee that if I become the new Vice President, I will give you the freedoms that you deserve as a U.S. citizen, and I will make sure that the government won’t invade your privacy. I also plan to correct government issues that were made by the previous President and Congress. One of the most significant issues that needs to be revised is the amount of debt the government has gained over the past decade. Take the current debt of about $17,528,000,000,000. Now the U.S. tax revenue of about 2.8 trillion dollars, the federal budget of about $3.8 trillion, and finally, the budget cuts made by the government which are about $38,500,000,000 Let’s take away some zeros and pretend this is an average household. The income of the family is $28,000, the money the family spent is $38,000, the outstanding balance on their credit card is $175,280, and the family’s budget cuts are $380. There’s your government spending in a nutshell. Ron Paul said, "When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans." I guarantee that a large percentage of the government debt will decrease if I become Vice President. I will do this by cutting government programs that are unnecessary, and too involved in the personal lives of U.S. citizens. The government has way too many social programs, such as Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. These government programs will cost future generations an exorbitant amount of debt, and they are too engaged in the personal lives of U.S. citizens. If we decrease the amount of social programs and just have the state governments run them, the national debt will be significantly decreased, and people won’t feel as though their privacy has been invaded.The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution is currently being violated by the U.S. government. Citizens should be protected from unreasonable searches and seizures because they need the freedom they deserve. Why should the government care so much about what each citizen does throughout their daily lives? I promise to correct this violation of the U.S. Constitution if I am elected by taking away government surveillance from computers, phones, and other forms of technology. Each U.S. citizen has individual liberties. Thomas Jefferson once said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Therefore, people have the right to enjoy life, enforce their liberties, and be happy. An example of this is if people want to practice same sex marriage and it makes them happy, they should have the right to do so. Personal liberties and freedoms are the most important aspects of the lives of United States citizens. If you vote Hammond-Erickson to represent and run your country, I promise that you all will live lives free of stress, and full of happiness because of your new freedoms.

Presidential Candidate Kelsey Hammond: 

Hello, my name is Kelsey Hammond, and I am running for President and representing the libertarian party. I, along with the other members of the libertarian party, have extremely basic things we want executed by our government, however we also have several things we believe should be up to us as individuals. We,as a party, want to challenge the current procedures in place and defend the rights of the individual. I believe it is my duty if elected to think about you. Not about healthcare I want to force on you or restrictions on how you want to live your life, but on the things the government should currently be focused on. We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than our own grant to government the right to regulate the lives of individuals and seize the fruits of their labor without their consent.We, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that where governments exist, they must not violate the rights of any individual. If I am elected my first action with be to return the government to what it originally was. We as a country need to go back to the basics. First we will protect the right to life. We support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others. Second we protect the right to liberty of speech and action. We oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form. And third we protect the right to property. We oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation.I oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary relations among individuals. People should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of individual rights, is the free market. If I am elected there will be several programs that are addressed immediately after I take my place in office. I firmly believe that the cutting of government spending and restrictive programs with benefit our economic situation more than any one of us here today can imagine. All persons are entitled to keep what they earn through hard work. I want to repeal income tax, and abolish the Internal Revenue Service and all federal programs and services not required under the U.S. Constitution. I oppose any legal requirements forcing employers to serve as tax collectors. Governments should not make our debt grow because it burdens you, the future generation,  without your consent. Ronald Reagan once said,"Government’s view of the economy can be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." Next, I want to concentrate on restoring and reviving a free market health care system. We recognize the freedom of individuals to determine the level of health insurance they want (if any), the level of health care they want, the care providers they want, the medicines and treatments they will use and all other aspects of their medical care, including end-of-life decisions. People should be free to purchase health insurance across state lines. And also but not finally, we believe the defense of the country requires that we have adequate intelligence to detect and to counter threats to domestic security. This requirement must not take priority over maintaining the civil liberties of our citizens. The Constitution and Bill of Rights shall not be suspended even during time of war. Intelligence agencies that legitimately seek to preserve the security of the nation must be subject to oversight and transparency. We oppose the government's use of secret classifications to keep from the public information that it should have, especially that which shows that the government has violated the law. I, along with my vice president Molly, hope you think about us and our party when you go to vote. However Molly and I hope even more you think about which party has your best interests at heart as an individual and you make the vote for your government to be in your control once again.
